My name is Cheyne Scott

the Spiritual Litigator. I am a litigation Partner for a mid-sized law firm, and I have been writing, podcasting, and conducting seminars about mindfulness and mindset for over 4 years. My passion for the practice of law began when I was voted most likely to be a lawyer in 8th grade. I was one of those peculiar people who loved law school. When I finally started practicing law, I was excited about every assignment, every court appearance, and every opportunity I had to show up in spaces with other lawyers.

Then, something started to shift and my passion for the legal practice started to diminish.

I remember feeling like things were always happening TO me, as opposed to being faced with normal challenges that I could solve with a confident mindset.

I remember doubting myself, and having my inner critic constantly tell me I was going to be discovered as a fraud. 

4 years into practice, the intense self-doubt, stress and anxiety led to me burning out. I ended up in the ER and out of work for an entire week while I recovered. 

During that week, I scoured the internet for stress-management resources, and so many sources told me that the only antidote to stress, anxiety, and self-doubt was to leave the practice of law entirely!

I didn’t accept that. I was determined to continue practicing law, because that was what I was meant to do. 

I learned how to face the exact same challenges I faced prior to burnout with a different mindset.

With a confident mindset you can:

Tolerate losing Motions without feeling like those losses mean something is terribly wrong with you.

Communicate effectively with all of your clients--even the unreasonable ones! 

Respond to rude adversaries with calm and clarity, instead of reacting.

Take on a heavier workload and more responsibility without getting overwhelmed.

I learned how to do all of this with a marked reduction in stress, anxiety and self-doubt. 

A little over 4 years later, I was made Partner in the firm.

Right now your reality looks a bit like this:

  • There is a wide abyss between you and where you want to be in your career.


  • When you think about the successes that you’ve already achieved, it feels like a fluke.


  • You’re constantly doubting your own abilities. Maybe if you worked even more hours, you would feel better?

The reality is, you already have everything that you need to have the career that you want.

You have at least two degrees, you passed at least one bar exam, you are currently employed as a lawyer. Your skills and intellect as a lawyer are solid.


There is only one reason that you don’t have the career that you want right now: your mindset.

And that is something that you can create. There are clear and simple steps:

You get to know that losing a Motion is not a personal attack on your self worth or legal abilities--it is only a Judge’s interpretation of the facts and the law.

A confidence mindset means you will get started on that brief, prepare for that deposition and show up confidently for that trial instead of procrastinating, ruminating and being afraid to show up. 


A confidence mindset is not easy, and you must be willing to feel the discomfort of your old beliefs fighting to hold on.
